If you are looking for a rewarding volunteer position, whether as an active board
member role or reliable event staff, Winnipeg Crime Stoppers is looking for personable,
motivated and dedicated volunteers with the desire to promote a highly successful
community-based program that effectively assists in the solution of crimes creating a
safer city to live and work in.
Without the support of volunteers, Winnipeg Crime Stoppers could not operate and the
solution of many serious crimes, like murders, thefts and drugs seized would go
unsolved. To continue our highly successful initiatives, we need your help!
The Winnipeg Crime Stoppers Board is expanding its community outreach initiatives in
attending local community events throughout Winnipeg with an interactive marketing
booth showcasing the Winnipeg Crime Stoppers Program’s successes and engaging
and educating the general public on how to use the Program and all of its benefits.
These events require a volunteer who is not shy with strangers, approachable and
eager to get involved in the fight against crime and contributing to the community we
live in.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
- Be a minimum 16 years of age;
- Be able to pass and maintain a security clearance;
- Read, speak and write English;
- Be able to lift 25 lbs;
- Be able to get to and from events throughout Winnipeg;
- Be available for orientation and training:
o Winnipeg Crime Stoppers: who we are and how we started
o Winnipeg Crime Stoppers Programs and initiatives
o Working with the public and what to say
o Event set/up tear-down
- Provide at least two (2) references; and
- Be committed, dependable and honest.
All members of the general public, including current university or college students,
industry professionals, and retirees who are eager to spread the Crime Stoppers
message at local community events, school presentations, fundraising events and
outreach programs throughout Winnipeg are needed!
VOLUNTEER QUALIFICATIONS & ASSETS:
- Knowledge of another language that is commonly used in the Metro Winnipeg
area is an asset; this includes: French, Tagalog (Pilipino, Filipino), German,
Ukrainian, Panjabi (Punjabi), Polish, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian,
Italian
- Have access to a reliable vehicle (not a requirement)
- Strong oral, interpersonal and written communications skills
- Possess time management skills, a strong work ethic and commitment to the
Program
- And a sincere desire to support a successful community-based program!
